Don't wait for the thaw
Winter is starting to bite. So are energy bills. Find out how tem is biting back.
The clocks went back last Sunday. In exchange for that extra hour in bed what do we get? Our vitamin D supplies sapped; long, dark nights and the prospect of four months (at least) of utilising every single layer in our wardrobe in an attempt to stay passably warm.
What a (terrible) deal.
Another terrible deal? Your energy bill.
Don’t freeze
If you’re a hotel with 150 rooms, winter means a lot more power is going to be needed to keep your guests snug. If you’re a stadium, the fans are going to want those floodlights turned on. No matter what kind of business you are, winter means bills that snowball.
And this year is particularly brutal. Along with the weather (out of your control), the energy market (also out of your control) is raising its prices in the face of a volatile, unpredictable world. Power bills have doubled since this time last year, landing you with prices that can feel, simply, unsurmountable.
For companies in the midst of renewing their energy contract, the natural response is to, well, freeze. To hunker down, hibernate, hope that a thaw comes, that prices drop, that a better deal is around the corner.
But freezing in place could mean waiting for a better price that never comes. Or worse, paying your supplier’s Out of Contract rate that is likely to be far higher than what you were paying before. Neither option is good for business.
This is where tem comes in.
Born in the cold
tem was built for harsh conditions. In 2021, energy prices spiked hard and businesses were left holding the bill. What did we do? We started an energy company. One that rebuilt the way your energy is bought and sold, removing the layers that mean you pay for something happening on the other side of the world.
We don’t wait around for the market to hand us optimal conditions: we engineer them. We price directly from a live and growing pool of generators and businesses, not from the bloated wholesale market. A market that has risen 105% since January, while tem's rate has only risen by 59%.
Sitting outside the market means that we’re able to do what the rest of the market cannot. Reduce our fees without adding risk.
Prove it
Last week we cut prices across every single quote.
That’s 11,000+ quotes repriced overnight, worth more than £8 million a year in savings to UK businesses.
We are unfortunately not in charge of the clocks, nor can we stop winter’s advance. But we can take the teeth out of the quote that is looking more Grinch than Father Christmas.
So our advice to anyone looking at a renewal quote right now is this: re-run it with tem and see what your savings look like.
