What we’ve built together: tem hits anniversary milestones
The latest news from tem. 25M saved, 2,000+ users and one mission: fair, transparent energy pricing that builds the world we want to see.

Last month, tem celebrated four years since we incorporated. Four years ago, we had an idea. How do we make energy transactions direct, fair and transparent? In 2023, that idea became a platform.
We launched RED™ in 2023, built on our revolutionary pricing engine.
This mission to deliver clear, affordable pricing between the people who generate power and the businesses who need it has accelerated ever since.
£25 million saved for business and generator customers
2,000+ customers now on the platform
£10.5 million raised in Series A funding
70 amazing people now building tem across product, tech, operations and more
The numbers matter, but it’s the something-special-you-can’t-capture that matters more (in a way).
As Douglas Lamont, CEO of Tony’s Chocolonely puts it, we “have the feeling that the company is an enabler of the world we would like to see.”
That feeling drives us.
We’re going all in on fixing energy economics
The energy market still overcharges UK businesses by around 30%. Too many fees. Too many steps. Too little clarity. And it’s just plain wrong, you know?
tem cuts through that by connecting users directly, bypassing wholesale market layers and volatility.
You see where your money is going
You know what power you are paying for
You get better value, every time
Every new contract signed through tem proves that a simpler, more transparent model doesn’t just work. It delivers.
Getting the (dream) team together
Earlier this month, our product and engineering teams came together in our Battersea office for a focused day on the next chapter of tem’s pricing engine.
We already bring fast, accurate pricing every day. Now we are taking it further. We are working to make our engine even smarter, and to share more with you about how it works. More visibility into features, clarity around the mechanics, and transparency across the board.
In this market, price might be king, but trust has the king’s ear.
tem makes the news: our take on the energy market
This quarter, our CEO Joe McDonald appeared live on Sky News twice, unpacking energy pricing and the real cost of reform. Behind the headlines, we have been asking the bigger questions.
Here’s what we’ve been covering:
Ofgem approves £80bn in network upgrades
We support the principle, but demand transparency. Where is that public money going, and who is accountable?
Global volatility drives UK prices
Why does conflict abroad raise prices here at home? Because the system is wired to react, not protect.
The headlines focused on location. We focused on fundamentals. Who owns what? Who earns what? Who pays what?
tem on the move
This quarter, we’ve been out in the world learning, connecting and building new partnerships face to face.
Silverstone Grand Prix
We kicked off the summer with a weekend at the British Grand Prix, bringing partners along for the ride. Now, we’re proud to announce that tem is an Official Supporting Partner of Silverstone. From the track to the tech, we are backing Britain’s home of motorsport with energy that is built to go the distance.
World Biogas Expo
We sponsored one of the key award categories and brought a bit of tem flair to the event, including a cheeky round of tem-branded poker with some of the UK’s most forward-thinking renewable operators.
Customer visits
Across the UK, we’ve been meeting businesses and generators in person to understand what is working, what is not and what comes next. These visits are fuelling the next phase of tem.
tem.fest: our week in Morocco
You might’ve been wondering - why are you all in a desert? Well, we brought the entire tem team to Morocco for a week of connection, creativity and the occasional camel ride. As a remote-first company, these offsites are where the essential collisions happen. This is where million-pound ideas are born.
From product workshops to sunrise hikes and a few TikToks thrown in, tem.fest reminded us what makes this team work: curiosity, honesty and momentum. #PeoplePower
Thanks for being part of tem
We built tem to challenge a broken system. But we are not doing it alone.
Whether you are buying power or generating it, you are helping prove that energy can be fair, efficient and transparent with the right tools and the right people behind it.
Here’s to what’s next.
