tem accelerates its plan for energy transaction infrastructure with minority stake in Versa Energy

The investment deepens an established partnership between tem and Versa, with both companies maintaining operational independence.

LONDON, 23 SEPTEMBER 2026 – tem, the technology company building the transaction infrastructure to power a new generation of energy businesses, has taken a minority ownership stake in Versa Energy, the UK’s leading provider of white-label energy supply. The investment builds on the companies’ existing partnership, with Versa continuing to independently run day-to-day delivery of licensed supply and tem continuing to transform the transaction infrastructure beneath it.

Versa has held an Ofgem supply licence since 2020, working with technology and energy businesses to provide the licensed supply activity behind their customer offer. Versa and tem have partnered since tem began, with Versa managing meter registrations, supply compliance and wider regulatory obligations, and tem focusing on innovating its pricing intelligence and AI-powered operations.

Rosso, tem’s energy transaction infrastructure, prices energy from a live portfolio across thousands of businesses and generators, removing the web of intermediaries in the wholesale market.  The result is businesses pay less for their energy, generators earn more for what they produce and prices are closer to the true cost of energy.

The investment is part of tem’s long-standing vision to expand Rosso to the entire energy market, as the infrastructure that the next generation of energy businesses will run on. Those businesses will need a licensed route to energy supply, and tem's investment in Versa supports that, so anyone building on Rosso has both from day one: every transaction priced at its true cost, and the licence handled.

tem's oversubscribed Series B earlier this year advanced that vision, scaling Rosso across a growing portfolio of businesses and generators. The minority stake supports Versa to scale in parallel, giving tem's customers enduring protection under UK energy regulation while tem stays focused on building the infrastructure underneath. Versa continues to operate independently.

“This is exactly the plan we set out to build,” said Joe McDonald, CEO and Co-founder at tem. “Rosso is the infrastructure that the energy market of the future runs on, and this investment accelerates its next phase. Versa makes it easy for any energy business to set up and scale on Rosso, and we're backing them to do exactly that, so more energy businesses can deliver real value to customers alongside us.”

“Versa works with industry-leading partners to deliver a licensed supply service to their own non-domestic customers,” said Ian Haszlakiewicz, CEO and Founder at Versa Energy. “We have ambitious plans to offer this to more technology companies, increasing choice for customers and strengthening the white-label regulatory model. I’m excited to deepen our partnership with tem to scale that vision.”

tem’s infrastructure has already delivered over £60m in savings, an increase of over 200% in the last 12 months, across more than 8000 sites in the UK, transacting over 6TWh of energy. tem’s investment in Versa is a vote of confidence that a new wave of companies can bring more competition and choice to business energy, and better outcomes can be delivered for the energy market through partnership.
