Billing

Meter site visit charges become a fixed cost

From 14 September, every new quote includes site visit costs as a fixed £5.30 a month within the standing charge. The pass-through line is gone, so an engineer visit no longer means a surprise bill for your client.

A meter stops communicating, an engineer goes out, and a few hundred pounds lands on your client's next bill. Until now, site visits were passed through at cost: fair in principle, but unpredictable in practice, and the number only appeared after the visit happened.

From 16th September 2026, that changes.

One fixed charge. Every new quote includes site visit costs in the standing charge: £5.30 a month, fixed for the life of the contract.

No more pass-through line. The site visit line item disappears from quotes. If an engineer needs to visit, whether for a manual read, a modem repair or a meter replacement, the cost is already covered.

Priced only to cover costs. We set the rate to cover what site visits cost, not to make margin.

Direct agreements still count. Clients with their own meter operator (MOP) or data collector (DC/DA) contract can send us the agreement and we'll remove the charge from their bills.

Existing contracts are unchanged. Anything signed on pass-through terms stays as it is until renewal. Open quotes will be re-priced on 14 September. If you have a contract out for signature on the old pricing, it needs to be returned by 5pm on Wednesday 16 September; after that, a new signature on the new pricing is required.

For your clients, it means even greater confidence in what they see on their quote lining up with what they see on their bill.
